His Holiness inaugurates new Kashag building

DHARAMSHALA: His Holiness the Dalai Lama yesterday inaugurated the new Kashag building. He arrived at Gangchen Kyishong, the seat of the Central Tibetan Administration, at 9 a.m.

Hundreds of Tibetans, carrying traditional scarves and incense sticks, lined on the road sides to welcome His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

His Holiness blessed the new building and addressed a gathering of senior officials of the Central Tibetan Administration.
 
Kalon Tripa Prof Samdhong Rinpoche and Kalon Tripa elect Dr Lobsang Sangay offered Mendrel Tensum, three auspicious offerings of golden statue of Tara, Great Treatise of Lama Tsong Khapa and a stupa, to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the occasion.

His Holiness also planted a sapling and prayed for the well being of the humanity. The senior officials of the administration were also present at the inauguration event.

His Holiness met college students to give introduction of Buddhism at a two-day programme at the Tibetan Children’s Village school auditorium this morning. The programme was specially organised for the students and it is being held annually as a His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s teaching for the Tibetan youths.
