His Holiness The Dalai Lama arrived in Switzerland (Fribourg) on 12th April 2013
His Holiness The Dalai Lama arrived in Switzerland today to attend the European Tibetan Buddhist Conference at Forum Fribourg in the french speaking Swiss city of Fribourg. The conference was organized by the Tibet Bureau of Switzerland based in Geneva. Over 80 delegates participated in the one day conference.
His Holiness was welcomed by Sikyong Lobsang Sangay la who is on a 12 day visit in the country. Hundreds of Tibetans along with heads of many NGOs had gathered to welcome the visit. The Folklore Ensemble of the Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Leichtenstein (TCSL) performed the traditional welcoming dance of Tashi Shopa for the occasion.
His Holiness is on a 6 day visit in Switzerland and will be visiting different parts of the country at the behest of various organizations. From 13 to 14 April, at the behest of the Lausanne based International Buddhist Community Rigdzin, the FPC-Tibet Foundation and the Swiss Foundation FPMT, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will give Tibetan Buddhist teachings and public talk at Forum Fribourg followed by a visit to the University of Lausanne to attend a dialogue with the scientific community on the subject of “Living and Dying in Peace: Cross-Views on the Elderly” on the 15 of April. His Holiness in expected to visit the Swiss parliament at the official invitation of Ms. Maya Graf, the President of the National council on 16 April afternoon after his morning schedule of an address to the students of the University of Bern on the subject of “Towards a sustainable future”. His Holiness will be visiting the Rikon Tibetan monastery on the 17th of April before leaving for Londonderry in Northern Ireland.
