Second General Meeting of Tibetan Language and Culture Schools convene in Switzerland & Liechtenstein

Zürich: 25th September 2021: The Tibetan Community of Switzerland & Liechtenstein convened the second general meeting of Tibetan language and culture schools on 25th September to discuss and review action plan that would motivate and integrate the younger generation to the Tibetan culture and identity.

Heads and representatives from Tibetan language and culture schools from 18 sections participated in the meeting presided over by Representative Chhimey Rigzen and Kalden Tsomo of the Tibet Bureau.

The director of the Tibetan school Tsewang Munsel presented the mid-term report of Tibetan culture and language schools, including the week-long Tibetan summer camp organised at RIPA International Buddhist Center from 27 July to 02 August. The stakeholders decided to organise similar Tibetan culture and language summer camp in the coming year-2022.

Representative Chhimey thanked the director and teachers for rendering valuable volunteer services to the community, in particular shouldering collective responsibility in upbringing the new generation of Tibetan with knowledge of its own culture and identity.

In addition to sending children for weekend schools, Representative also emphasized the parents to cultivate practical learning at home.

Ms.Karma Choekyi and Mr. Tenzin Wangdue, President and Vice President of the Tibetan Community of Switzerland &Liechtenstein respectively reaffirmed the Community’s effort in strengthening the Tibetan culture and language schools spread across the country. This includes building the capacity of teachers and hosting various activities to make Tibetan children interested in learning Tibetan culture and language.

The Tibetan Community of Switzerland & Liechtenstein awarded a certificate of appreciation to each teacher and facilitator. Similarly, the Tibet Office Geneva, Giuseppe Kaiser-Stiftung, Tsering Foundation and Stiftung Landguet Ried were also awarded for their financial contributions and moral support.
