The 55th Anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day 10th March 2014 at Bern

The Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein (TCSL) commemorated the 55th anniversary of the Tibetan peoples uprising day in Bern, capital of Switzerland. A huge crowd gathered at 11:30 am at Münsterplatz. The rally started at 12:00 pm and marched towards the Waisenhausplatz.  Joined by monks from Rikon Monastery and the Tibetan folklore ensemble of TCSL, the rally proceeded raising slogans demanding human rights in Tibet, continued rounds of dialogues with the representatives of H.H The Dalai Lama and improvement of conditions in Tibet.

The march halted at Waisenhausplatz where the Tibetan National Anthem was sung followed by speechs from various eminent guests and speakers. The Tibet office representative Mr. Dawa Gyatso la has read out the 55th anniversary of Tibetan uprising statement of Central Tibetan Administration. The vice President of European Association Tibetan and Han Chinese Culture, Chinese Democracy activist Mr. Wang Longmeng also joined the rally. The event was concluded with prayers for those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Tibet and speedy return of His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama to Tibet.

As previous few years, the rally this year was also denied procession towards the Chinese embassy. A few selected members were allowed to continue the rally under the vigilance of police to hand over the petition to the Embassy of China. The rally ended at 3.00 pm.
