Tibetans in Switzerland commemorate the 61st Anniversary of Tibetan Democracy Day at Rikon.
Rikon: Saturday, 4th September 2021: The Tibetan Community in Switzerland& Liechtenstein (TCSL) organized a commemoration ceremony on Saturday, 4th September 2021 at Rikon Schulhaus, Switzerland, on the occasion of 61st anniversary of Tibetan Democracy Day. At about 1.00 pm started the Ceremony by welcoming a portrait of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to the altar on the stage with Dhung and Gyaling. Tibetan National Anthem and Tibetan Democracy song,Mangtso Sarshey led by Swiss Dhoekar (Tibetan Folklore Ensemble) followed by a minute of Silence for all the Martyrs of Tibet was observed.
After the prayer ceremony for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and well-being of all sentient being was led by the monastic community of Tibet Institute Rikon.. Tashi Sholpa was performed by Tibetan Folklore Ensemble (Dhoekar) Solcha and Dresil was offered to the Public.
Dignitaries present on the Ceremony includes Ven. Thupten Legmen, Khen Rinpoche( Abbot of Rikon Tibet Institute) , Mr. Chiimey Rigzen, Representatives of Tibet Bureau Geneva, former Chitues , president of three traditional Provinces of Tibet ( Dotoe, Domey and Uetsang) Ms. Tsering Youdon Marsen, President of Swiss Tibetan Woman Association( TFOS), Ms.Tashi Tsomo Shitsetsang, President of Europe Tibetan Youth Asssociation( VTJE), Ms. Kunsang Gangshontsang, Swiss Tibetan Friendship Association ( GSTF)
Ms. Karma Choekyi, President of Tibetan Community of Switzerland & Liechtenstein opened the ceremony with a welcome Speech. She requested all the Tibetans to ensure that they do not neglect by heedlessness the sacred and valuable democratic system that has been gifted by His Holiness the Dalai Lama Rather, they should bring a sense of responsibility over it and act to work towards its continued further progress and success. As Tibetans in Tibet have no right to raise their voice against Communist China, but we the Tibetans in Exile, each and every one of us should use our opportunity to serve our nation and to take more responsibilities.
The official statement of Kashag (Central Tibetan Administration Dharamsala) on this occasion was read by Mr. Chiimey Rigzen, Representative of Tibet Bureau, Geneva..After reading the statement he with concern stated: Although His Holiness the 13th Dalai Lama announced Tibet as free Nation but unfortunately we were forced to leave our country. He requested all those in authority to try to solve the problem we are facing today, which was caused mainly by the Chinese originated COVID-19 Pandemics.
He urges Tibetans to respect our Democratic system and to remain observant and to commit to playing a constructive role in the democratic process. He thanked all the NGO`s for their concern and for working together for the cause of Tibet.
Ven. Thupten Legmen, Khen Rinpoche, informed the audience about the renovation done in Rikon Tibet Institute and thanked all for their Support. With concern he requested all those in authority to take individual responsibilities and to work together to fulfill the wishes of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and make concerted effort in running the Tibetan administration.
Other Speakers on the occasion were: Ms. Kunsang Gangshontsang, Swiss Tibetan Friendship Association, Ms. Tsering Youdon Marsen., President Swiss Tibetan Woman Association, Ms. Tashi Tsomo Shitsetsang, President of Europe Tibetan Youth Association.
Cultural Programme were performed by Tibetan Folklore Ensemble (Swiss Dhoekar) and three traditional Province s of Tibet ( Dhotoe, Dhomey and Uetsang)

The Question and Answer Session was open to everyone to ask questions to the dignitaries /Officials includes: Ven Thupten Legmen, Abbot of Tibet Institute Rikon, Mr. Chiimey Rigzen, Representative Tibet Bureau Geneva, Ms. Karma Choekyi, President of TCSL, Mr. Tenzin Wangdue, Vice President of TCSL and all the Thumis( Section Leaders) The Public were given an opportunity to ask questions and share their opinions.

The Programme concluded successfully at about 10 PM with Gorshay (Tibetan Circle Dance) led by Nelung Tsering Topden.
